“Much of my life has been stalking Dario Argento,” says director Luca Guadagnino, who has re-imagined Argento’s 1977 horror classic “Suspiria.” For him this was an “ultimate act of love for Dario,” and “with all the things we love, somehow we want to possess them.” Guadagnino was joined by the film’s stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth and Jessica Harper to discuss the film with Oscar voters at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on October 27.

Suspiria, the re-imaging of Dario Argento’s 1977 classic directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name), and Tilda Swinton were the big stars of the day. The movie, which officially opened the 51th Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, is an exercise in style that stands out thanks to its great visual strength. A touched Tilda Swinton, present in Sitges’ fantastic imaginary since she starred in Orlando, received the Festival’s maximum prize, the Grand Honorary Award, from the hands of film director J.A. Bayona. And she confessed: “This is a very special day for me and I’m warning you, I might cry. I spent this last week by my father’s side because he was dying. He couldn’t talk, so as I sat there, I imagined what he might be thinking or fantasizing about. And I wondered if I would be able to come to this fantastic Festival I was invited to. And then it happened, he died this morning. I doubted whether to come or not, but I decided to go ahead because Sitges is Fantasy”.
