Women Make Film – documentary

The epic documentary “Women Make Film” by Mark Cousins, includes 40 “chapters”. The documentary is narrated by Tilda Swinton, Jane Fonda, Debra Winger Adjoa Andoh, Kerry Fox, Thandie Newton, and Sharmila Tagore , shot and edited by Mark Cousins. Full-length 14-hour version receives its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Documentary has been launched by Dogwoof and Hopscotch Films.

The film has been divided by Cousins into five parts for screening in Toronto Film festival, September 7th-11th. The first four installments are three hours each and the final section is two hours.

For 13 decades and on all six filmmaking continents, thousands of women have been directing films, too ā€“ some of the best films. What movies did they make? What techniques did they use? What can we learn about cinema from them?ā€¯
